About the Philosophy of Education Society

The Society exists to promote for the public benefit the advancement and teaching of philosophy of education. It organises conferences and seminars in the field, supports some 17 regional branches, administers a scheme of grants and awards for activities that further its aims, and provides for the publication of the Journal of Philosophy of Education and the IMPACT booklet series.

The Annual Conference

This is held either just before or just after Easter each year at New College, Oxford. Most conference members are residential. Five or six sessions are held. Papers are circulated in advance to conference members and are then examined in discussion after a brief presentation by their authors. Some papers are invited, and others result from a call for papers which is issued a year in advance. Some sessions take the form of workshops. Time is also given over to social activities. The AGM is held during the Annual Conference. Further information about the Annual Conference including past conferences is available here.
