Grants and Awards

Large Grants

Applications are now invited from members of the Society to the 2011-12 Large Grants Scheme.

The aim of the Society is to promote for the public benefit the advancement and teaching of philosophy of education, and to that end the Large Grants Scheme is designed to support:

  • high quality research projects with a substantial philosophical component and with relevance for educational practice or policy
  • advanced scholarship and study in philosophy of education
  • seminars, meetings and other activities aimed at the sharing, application and further development of scholarly work in philosophy of education

Applications are invited for five types of Large Grant:

  • Research Project Grants
  • Research Fellowships
  • Seminar Series
  • Doctoral Studentships
  • Miscellaneous Grants

Small Grants

All members of the Society are invited to apply for small grants to support the pursuit of research and other activities that further the aims of the Society. Small grants are normally limited to £750 and are open to anyone who has been a member of the Society for at least a year.

Applicants will be expected to seek funding for the activity in question from their employing institution (where relevant) in the first instance. Applications for small grants can be made at any time during the year.

All small grants are given at the discretion of the Finance and General Purposes Committee which is a sub-committee of the Executive Committee of the Society.
