The Journal is published under the auspices of the Society. Four issues are published each year one of which is a monograph by an invited author(s), the remaining three issues form one volume. The Journal aims to publish papers from throughout the world which contribute to the development of the Philosophy of Education as a major discipline in the consideration of educational problems. Articles are drawn from a wide variety of sources - from papers read at the Society's meetings and from contributions offered by members and non-members, both in Britain and elsewhere. The Journal also includes Review Articles and Book Reviews. One of the issues is also published in a monograph form.
Each summer the Secretary sends to all members the minutes of the AGM held at Easter and a Newsletter. The latter contains details of the next annual conference, notices from the Treasurer and Secretary and a wealth of other information. This includes details of articles and books published by members in the preceding year, a record of branch activity, the register of research interests (see previous section), news and information and the complete list of members names' and addresses.
We have recently begun publishing a new pamphlet series called IMPACT, addressed to policy-makers and practitioners. It highlights the critical perspectives that philosophy can bring to bear on current education policy. Authors are leading writers in philosophy of education and general philosophy. Symposia with leading policy-makers have been arranged for all seven pamphlets published to date. There has been extensive media interest in the new series.
Full information on the series and ordering details can be found here.
