Information for Students

The Society has always welcomed the contribution of students to its various events, and projects. One of the main aims of the Society is to promote the study of Philosophy of Education at all levels. To this end, the Society has a Development Committee. For more information or suggestions please contact the convenor, Judith Suissa (j.suissa@ioe.ac.uk)

Students are encouraged to attend all Society events at local, national and international level. In addition the Society, periodically, holds events specifically for those enrolled on higher education courses.

Student Essay Competition

Graduate and undergraduate students registered for a degree in Education, Philosophy or related areas are invited to submit an original piece of philosophical work on an educational topic of their own choosing for the third annual Student Essay Competition.

Pre Conference Seminar

A pre conference seminar for research students is held every year on Friday afternoon before the PESGB annual conference at New College, Oxford. The seminar is advertised in the newsletter and via e-mail to all members of the PESGB.

Summer School 2010

Following the success of our International Doctoral Summer Schools over the last four years, we are running an FREE RESIDENTIAL UNDERGRADUATE SUMMER SCHOOL this June. If you are an undergraduate student studying philosophy, education or a related discipline and you would like to immerse yourself in some summer study and social activities, take a closer look at the application form and requirements here.

The Society also welcomes applications for Grants and Awards to support the production and dissemination of philosophy of education. Application is limited to those who have held membership of the society for at least one year.
