In common with most academic organisations in the UK, the Philosophy of Education Society is unequivocally committed to maintaining and promoting equality for all regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, or disability. While members are of course entitled to freedom of expression within the Society and its various meetings, language or behaviours that support or promote unfair discrimination or bigotry are not acceptable. Any individual who witnesses or is made aware of behaviour at any of the Society’s events that runs counter to this fundamental principle is strongly encouraged to report the incident to the Chair of the Society and/or a member of the Executive Committee. Any member found to have violated this fundamental principle will be liable to having their membership terminated. Any judgment in this regard would be made by a sub-committee of the Executive and a member of the Society not, at the time, on the Executive and (where necessary) a resolution tabled at the AGM.
