South Coast Branch Virtual Conference
The University of Winchester Centre for Philosophy of Education and the PESGB South Coast Branch are hosting this online postgraduate conference with the theme of ‘Education and the Future’.
The aim of this conference is to provide postgraduate students with the opportunity to present their developing work in the field of philosophy of education, to other students as well as to academics in the field. We invite undergraduate students, postgraduate students and academics working within philosophy of education to attend this day conference. We have a wide range of papers discussing philosophical aspects of education with a focus on the future from postgraduate students in the UK and across the globe.

Our first keynote speakers are postgraduate students Rebecca Buxton from the Refugee Studies Centre, Oxford and Lisa Whiting from Birkbeck, editors of The Philosopher Queens: The Lives and Legacies of Philosophy’s Unsung Women. They will be presenting a paper entitled: Who is Philosophy for? Public Philosophy of Representation.
Our second keynote speakers, Professor Patricia Thomson from the University of Nottingham and Dr Frances Howard from Nottingham Trent University, will provide a workshop on Building your academic profile.
