Postponed.

IMPROVING EDUCATIONAL POLICY DECISIONS

Professor Harry Brighouse (Madison Wisconsin)
Professor Susanna Loeb (Brown University)
Professor Adam Swift (UCL)

An extraordinary opportunity for outstanding postgraduate students from around the world to engage with world renowned philosophers of education on two beautiful university campuses in historic and vibrant English cities.

PART ONE:  SUMMER SCHOOL

Hope Park, Liverpool

PART TWO:  SPRING CONFERENCE

New College, Oxford

The Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB) and Liverpool Hope University (LHU) will be providing for a postgraduate cohort to attend a Summer School and Spring Conference on Educational Decision Making, led by Professors Brighouse, Loeb and Swift.

During the first event, the Summer School at Hope Park, Liverpool, participants will attend classes exploring and applying the educational decision making framework defended in the lead tutors’ book, Educational Goods: Values, Evidence, and Decision-Making. Seminar sessions will be based on readings selected and distributed in advance. There will be plenty of opportunities for socializing and some sightseeing.

At the second event, the Spring Conference at New College, Oxford, participants will present draft papers developed since the first event with the aim of submission to the PESGB’s Journal of Philosophy of Education (publication is not guaranteed and will depend on successful peer review). Participants will then attend the PESGB’s annual meeting at New College immediately afterwards. Participants must commit to attending both events and to working towards submitting a paper. Students will be assigned tutors to provide individualised career and research mentoring advice.
